The Blotter | Fight at Ace Hardware parking lot leads to arrests

Two people were taken into custody on August 30 after a fight reported in the parking lot of the Ace Hardware on Grand Avenue. According to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan, officers were dispatched to the scene after a verbal disturbance was reported at 6:34 p.m. “The subjects and vehicles involved matched the description of a suspicious circumstance call officers were previously dispatched to (involving) a possible stolen vehicle,” Captain Monahan said.

Officers made contact with the reporting party, who said two subjects had fled the scene in a silver sedan, leaving behind a blue Acura four-door vehicle. The reporting party pointed out a third person leaving the scene on foot. Officers detained that suspect on the 3700 block of Grand.

The silver 2000 Honda two-door sedan was reported stolen as officers were dealing with the situation. A witness reported the person detained was in the stolen sedan prior to leaving the scene. The subject was on parole with a full search clause. A search found three shaved keys and a glass pipe, according to Captain Monahan. The individual was taken into custody for possession of burglary tools and narcotics paraphernalia. He told officers he wasn’t involved in stealing the car but the two people (one male, one female) he was with had fled the scene in the vehicle with the female driving, according to Captain Monahan. The Acura was being towed when the female subject returned to the scene to take that car. She was detained on a warrant for driving with a suspended license. Both suspects were taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
