City holds free compost giveaway in advance of Harvest Festival

The City of Piedmont in collaboration with Republic Services, Inc. will be holding a free compost giveaway for residents in advance of the Harvest Festival at the City’s Corporation Yard (898 Red Rock Road) on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, from 9 am to 12 pm.

Bring shovels, gloves, containers, and proof of residency to pick up compost. If you would like to receive news about compost and future giveaways, please fill out this form. Use this link to contact Sustainability Program Manager Alyssa Dykman for more information.

Need garden soil ASAP? 
Republic Services customers can receive 1 cubic yard of compost per month at no charge, for a total of 12 cubic yards per year. You must call Republic Services to schedule an appointment to pick up compost. You will not be able to pick up compost without an appointment. Call Bielle Moore (510-262-7547) at Republic Services to coordinate a pick up time. Bring your own bag, bin, or bucket to the West County Resource Recovery Facility (101 Pittsburg Ave, Richmond, CA) at the time of your appointment.
