The Recreation Department’s pilot sports program for girlx* ages 5 to 12, Try (it) Out Tuesdays, was off to the races — literally — this past Tuesday, as new Recreation Supervisor Eva Phalen coached participants in Track and Field and Ultimate Frisbee.
You can still sign up for these free evening programs: July 20 features flag football and volleyball and July 27 features rugby and basketball.
Sessions run from 5:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. on Linda Beach Playfield. No experience necessary but please register in advance. Contact Steven Chavarria or (510) 420-6223 for more information.
*To create an inclusive and equitable community, PRD is intentionally using an ‘x’ in girlx to include cis, trans, non-binary, gender nonconforming, gender queer and any female-identified individuals.
