Photos | Senior prom caps a challenging year

The Oakland Rotunda was festively decorated

On June 5, 163 PHS and MHS seniors arrived at the Rotunda Building for Casino Royale, the Class of 2021’s prom. The party was postponed from April and as COVID-19 restrictions lessened, prom became a reality for a class that missed out on so many activities this year.

Upon arrival, guests were photographed on the red carpet and enjoyed passed appetizers, multiple photo booths, and a range of activities, including a full casino with blackjack and roulette, tarot card reader, and a cartoonist. Students dined under the 180 foot dome on sliders, gourmet mac-n-cheese, and chocolate-dipped donuts. One of the highlights of the night included aerialists performing on trapeze and silk ribbons while suspended from the dome. And of course there was dancing, which was the perfect way to culminate the evening among classmates who have not celebrated as a group this year.

This event could not have been possible without multiple sponsor and volunteers who donated money, time and expertise to ensure this class had a memorable event.

(All guests were vaccinated or tested negative.)

    • Thank you Laura! It was magical seeing these well deserved seniors smile and get a night to celebrate the end of their senior year! Thank you to our administration especially Erin Igoe for supporting us and allowing us to do what needed to be done to so we could make the night a reality!
