New Spring II Program Highlights
Girls Circle (Ages 9–13)
Girls Circle is a model of a structured support designed to foster strengths and promote resiliency through developing authentic connection with peers and adult women in their community, build skills, counter trends toward self-doubt, and allow for genuine self-expression through verbal sharing and creative activity. Each session, themes are introduced which relate to the girls’ lives – such as being a girl, trusting ourselves, friendships, body image, goals, competition, communication, conflict, gender stereotypes, personal boundaries, and decision-making. In addition to the discussion, we will also have fun activities and crafts each session.

Middle School Girls Basketball (Grades 6–8)
Dust off your high-tops! Piedmont Rec Sports and MVP Girls Basketball Coach Susan Terrill is leading a spring basketball training clinic for girl ballers aged 6th to 8th grade. Players will participate in individual and team based drills, skills training, conditioning, ball handling, footwork, shooting, defensive and offensive concepts and some fun, competitive drills designed to simulate game situations. Develop new skills, fine-tune your game, or get back in shape and have fun with your teammates while you do it!

Ultimate Frisbee (Grades 4–6)
Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport with unique characteristics like self-officiation and co-ed play at the highest level. Not only will your kids get great exercise and have fun playing Ultimate, they will learn about social emotional skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and other character building values.

Adult Tai Chi (Ages 18+)
Come discover Tai Chi! Originally developed for self defense Tai Chi has developed into a graceful form of exercise that’s excellent for stress reduction, balance and promoting good health. The Yang “24” is the most popular style of Taiji practiced worldwide. It is an easy to learn and practice truncated form of the traditional Yang “Long Form”, perfect as an introduction to the essential elements of Taijiquan. The “24” consists of soft, smooth movements, performed using an upright, balanced posture and is accessible to both young and old. Sessions include stretching exercises and classic Qigong practice.

– Adult Men’s Tennis (Ages 18+)
Come on out for cardio, fun, and socializing! This clinic will entail a mix of drills, strategy, and competition. Focus will be on many strokes of the game including volleys, overheads, serves, forehands, backhands and lobs. Minimum skill level of 3.5 recommended.
