“Things that Matter”: Community quilt project launches

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” -MLK

We would like to invite all members of the community to creatively express the “Things that Matter” in a community art quilt. We hope to display the “Things that Matter” quilt, with our interwoven and diverse narratives to capture this unique time, in the new PHS Theater building. Any funds raised will be used exclusively towards inclusive arts and music programs at PUSD.

We are launching our quilt project in February during Black History Month, to honor the Black Lives Matter Movement. As March is Art Month, we plan on weaving our creative community stories and unveiling the quilt in a public open space. As this is a community-building event for all ages, please remember only school appropriate images can be included.

Quilt Kits include:

1 8.5 x 8.5-inch Quilt Square, Fabric Remnants, Fabric Pens, Fabric Glue/Backing, Art Supplies, Stencils, Paints, Quilt cheat sheet

With each purchase, a donation will be made to the PUSD Music and Art program. This program benefits students across all six Piedmont schools.

Donation levels:

$25: Quilt Kit AND a donation towards clay supplies for art programs

$35: Quilt Kit AND a donation towards music instrument repair

$50: Quilt Kit AND a donation towards PUSD student art supplies such as sketchbooks, color pencils, and paint supplies

$100: Quilt Kit AND a donation towards the K-12 PUSD Music and Art Program Fund
