REMINDER: READmont 2021 hosts Feb. 25 panel on embracing clean energy

“Embracing Clean Energy” is our first READmont panel discussion of three.

We look forward to an exciting discussion with three people coming from varied backgrounds, but all committed to a future using clean energy.

  • Ms. Jessica Tovar, of the Local Clean Energy Alliance, Oakland, an NGO working in advocacy for clean energy, where she has worked for ten years.
  • Mr. Angel Fierro , co partner in “PLEXUS Solutions, LLC”, joining large scale clean energy projects with capital.
  • Dr. Max Auffhammer, George Pardee Jr. Professor of Sustainable Development and Associate Dean in the Division of Social Sciences at UC Berkeley. He is also an Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics and International and Area Studies at UC Berkeley and Chair at the Political Economy, UC Berkeley.
When

February 25, 2021 | 7:00 – 8:30 pm

We will record the program. This year, Readmont teamed up with Piedmont Connect to host book discussions starting in February 25, 2021 at PHS, continuing March 24 and April 29 at 7:00 PM

To Register

Visit the Piedmont Connect Readmont site to register online. We hope this common reading experience will forge positive connections among students, staff, parents and community members as well as encourage reading as a medium of collaboration.

More to Come

April 24 will be our Youth Summit on Environmental Justice, open to high school students across the Bay Area, ready to take action to preserve our planet.

All Piedmonters are encouraged to read “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate” by Naomi Klein. Klein argues that climate change should not be put on a shelf and studied, but is a problem that requires examining and fixing the economic system that she sees as already in trouble.

Copies are available for checkout at the PHS library. Interested readers can reach out to the PHS Librarian Kathryn Levenson at klevenson@piedmont.k12.ca.us to borrow a copy. A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair Village is offering a 20% discount on this title.
