Pilot COVID-19 testing program for TK-6 students looking for volunteers

A PUSD initiative to provide saliva-based PCR COVID-19 testing for students returning to hybrid instruction is seeking 250 volunteers to be tested when students come back from vacation next week.

The district is coordinating with school parent clubs to recruit interested families, who can sign up their child/ren and learn more about the initiative HERE.

According to information accompanying the sign-up form, the pilot is to determine if a preliminarily selected vendor “meets our district’s and families’ needs. If the pilot program is successful, students will be able to participate in COVID-19 testing on a regular basis.”

Parent club organizers are also looking for adult volunteers to “help distribute the tests and assist with other logistical tasks relating to the COVID testing,” according to an email sent to families Tuesday. More information on volunteering is available through the sign-up process.
