READmont 2021 selects book on capitalism vs. climate

Piedmont High proudly announces the official launch of Readmont 2021, Piedmont’s community read project, now in its eleventh year. All Piedmonters are encouraged to read “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate” by Naomi Klein. Klein argues that climate change should not be put on a shelf and studied, but is a problem that requires examining and fixing the economic system that she sees as already in trouble.

A limited number of copies will be available for checkout at the PHS library. Interested readers can reach out to the PHS Librarian Kathryn Levenson at klevenson@piedmont.k12.ca.us to secure a copy when school resumes in January. If you would like the book now, A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair Village is offering a 20% discount on this title.

This year, Readmont teamed up with Piedmont Connect to host book discussions starting in February 2021 at PHS, continuing through April. We hope this common reading experience will forge positive connections among students, staff, parents and community members as well as encourage reading as a medium of collaboration.
