Hampton Field to close Dec. 23 for annual turf work

Julie Reichle

Hampton Field was the site of PRD camps last summer.

From the Piedmont Recreation Department newsletter:

Each year the City of Piedmont closes Hampton Field and Coaches Field for turf rejuvenation. This closure allows the City to aerate, reseed and patch worn and damaged areas. While we understand that Piedmont’s parks are essential during this unprecedented time, this closure is necessary to maintain the long-term viability of Hampton and Coaches fields.

This year, the annual closure of Hampton Field will begin on Wednesday, December 23rd and extend until mid-February (weather permitting). The artificial turf infield at Hampton Field will remain open for public use during field maintenance efforts. Coaches Field will close for two weeks beginning on January 4th (weather permitting). The public hours at Beach Playfield will be expanded to 9:00 am–4:00 pm from December 24th–January 18th.
