Arrests in Lake Merritt robberies

Two men were arrested Monday in connection with three armed robberies near Oakland’s Lake Merritt, police said.

The pair started just after 9:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Palm Avenue, then went to the 500 block of Vernon Street and then to the 3400 block of Lake Shore Avenue. The robberies took place all within an hour, according to police.

Officers took the two into custody at 11:40 a.m. in the 400 block of Orange Street. A gun was recovered by officers, police said. The suspects’ names weren’t immediately released.
