Say it ain’t so: Favorite Piedmont Ave dining spots shut down for good

Dopo’s doors shuttered for good after their last service on Saturday evening.

Spotted on Piedmont Avenue in recent days:

Farewell from Dopo (letter posted out front)

It is with bruised hearts that we must tell you that Dopo is closing. Saturday, October 3rd will be our last service.

We are sad, frustrated, angry. The government has failed restaurants and small businesses; each one lost is a small ecosystem own, a network of people negatively impacted. Each one lost is heartbreaking & infuriating. We’re struggling with this loss & we’ll be processing it for a long time.

Though these past months have challenged us, they also gave us the opportunity to witness depths of kindness, loyalty & generosity so vast that they will get us through this moment and beyond.

Thank you to those of you who have faithfully & enthusiastically ordered from us every single week since late March. Thank you to those of you who ordered from us when you could and to those of you who supported us with a kind word.

While food & wine appear to be the focus of Dopo, our true value lies in what happens over a meal. The conversations between server& guest as they navigate menus together, the compliment paid over bar seats 1-4 to the pizza cook, the recipe tips shared by Jon, Kayta holding your kiddo on her hip while she stops by your table to catch up, the backyard produce you’ve shared with us, the birthdays, retirement, anniversaries you’ve marked within our four walls.

Dopo’s strength is in the community we’ve built together.

And that’s not going anywhere; it’s merely changing shape.

Thank you for 17 amazing years. We love you.

And we know we’ll see you again soon.

Jonn, Kayta & the Dopo team
