POPS campaign to host school board candidate forum on racial justice

Join Piedmont for Oakland Public Schools (POPS) for a PUSD School Board candidate forum focused on racial justice.

Thank you to all who supported our past two fundraising campaigns for Oakland-based grassroots organizations that fight for educational equity. Now, we hope to continue the momentum by taking direct action in local politics. We hope to encourage community members to think critically about their local officials and how School Board members can work to ensure PUSD is a safe place where every family, student, and staff member no matter their identity, can thrive.

The forum will take place on Monday, October 5th from 5-6 PM over Zoom.

We hope to empower our community to realize that everyone’s vote matters and every vote can be a step toward racial justice.

Several months ago, communities around the country rallied to the streets to protest the unjust murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonnna Taylor, George Floyd, and many other Black Americans. These murders brought to light America’s perverse unresolved history that pervades all areas of life. To ensure that this is a movement, not a moment, let us continue to channel that energy into direct action in Piedmont this election season.
