PEF welcomes newcomers at virtual reception

A warm and friendly virtual gathering on Tuesday September 22 was the perfect way to close this year’s festive Giving Campaign Launch Day. Almost 50 new families gathered online at a New Parent Reception, hosted by Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF).

The event, traditionally held on the evening of the Giving Campaign launch, welcomes parents new to the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) and educates families on school funding and the importance of PEF and the Giving Campaign.

PEF delivered goody bags of beer, generously donated by Mulberry’s Market, and snacks for each family. This year, attendees were unable to enjoy socializing in person but that did not stop the PEF team from finding creative ways for people to meet each other.

In between informative anecdotes from PEF Board Chair Nicki Gilbert, Wildwood parent Kat Di Piazza and Superintendent Randy Booker, parents found themselves in virtual breakout rooms with 2 to 3 others and a few minutes to shmooze and chat.

“I connected with so many wonderful parents who came to the district for our strong schools and already understand the value of community support–it was fantastic!” said Giving Campaign co-chair, Teebie Saunders.

The Giving Campaign co-chairs, Teebie Saunders, Amelie Kappes and Colleen Allen, together with PEF Executive Director, Heather Frank, brought the fun evening to a close with an overview of this year’s Giving Campaign and a call to action.
