I have known and have worked with Cory Smegal for many years, first as a fellow parent volunteer, and more importantly for the past four years as a School Board colleague.
Cory has a deep knowledge of our Piedmont School District honed by years and years of getting involved, rolling up her sleeves, and getting things done. Cory understands that our schools are only as good as the students and staff in them. Cory understands our facilities literally inside and out after spending years on our Facilities Steering Committee. Cory understands the craziness of school funding and our complicated budget. Cory understands how quickly K-12 education is changing right now, and most importantly Cory understands how it all meshes together.
This deep knowledge has benefitted all of us, now especially as we have navigate these crazy times. During our regularly scheduled Board meetings, and our 14 additional Special Board meetings Cory has been a calm, reasoned voice, always putting the well being of our staff, community, and most importantly our students, front and center.
We will be very lucky to have Cory serve our community for the next four years.
