Letter to the Editor | Hilary Cooper brings the right mix of skills and enthusiasm to school board candidacy

I am pleased and honored to endorse Hilary Cooper’s candidacy for Piedmont School Board.

I am a proud alumna of Piedmont public schools so, when my husband and I returned to the Bay Area in 2012, we chose Piedmont as our youngest child was entering 9th grade. Like so many of us, we moved to  Piedmont for the quality of public education and strength of community.  I became involved as a high school Parent Club Board member and later was a member of the board of the Piedmont Education Foundation and through these, I was fortunate to work with Hilary at PHS, on the Giving Campaign and Measures H & G.

Hilary exemplifies the reason we made the decision to live in Piedmont.  She is a creative and resourceful volunteer and has earned this community’s highest volunteer recognition in the Art Hecht award.  For our schools, she has been a committed volunteer who has given an enormous amount of time and energy.  Now, at a time when she could be resting on her laurels as a new empty-nester, she has made the admirable choice to deepen her commitment to our schools and run for a place on our School Board.

As a past educator herself, she understands the needs of faculty and is sensitive to the complex issues we face as a district and state.  Hilary sees challenges as opportunities and in these unprecedented times I am confident that Hilary will not only bring the skills and dedication we need for our students, faculty and community, but she will do so with the same upbeat and enthusiastic attitude she has always brought to her school and community contributions.

I ask you to consider joining me in supporting Hilary Cooper for Piedmont School Board.

Sincerely,

Molly Waste Ashford
