A large swath of Piedmont briefly lost power Friday night around 7:45 p.m. Power was restored within 30 minutes, but on one of the hottest days of the year so far with temperatures reaching into the 90s in town, residents took it as a sign of what might be coming as the Bay Area enters what is expected to be a prolonged heat wave.
No cause was reported on the PG&E website as of 8:15 p.m.
