Piedmont Fire Engine 2880 was deployed Friday evening for an “Immediate Need” assignment as part of a local Task Force assigned to the SCU Lightning Complex. Piedmont Fire Department immediately accepted the call for assistance to help our Bay Area neighbors in their hour of need; at this hour various Alameda County communities remain threatened by the fire this evening.
Engine 2880 is staffed with three firefighters and is specialized due to its small size and agility. It’s unclear exactly where they will be deployed but resources as desperately needed to help with the firefight. Today the SCU Lightning Complex Fire became the 7th largest wildfire in California’s history.
The Piedmont Fire Department was able to quickly fill the vacancies by recalling off duty personnel; we are fully staffed and preparing for the predicted lightning event expected to arrive in the Bay Area on Sunday evening.
Piedmont residents are urged to register for AC ALERT for the latest warnings, remember to register your teens and kids cell phones too!
Residents are reminded to prepare a GO BAG that can be used for any disaster.
