Quarantini | White Peach and Basil Smash

With our summer staycation upon us, I have been spending some time mixing up some fun new cocktails. This is my most recent favorite — and very similar to the strawberry smash cocktail posted last month. NOTE: You can substitute nectarines for the peaches. Keep in mind, the riper the fruit, the sweeter your drink will be.

Grab your drink, a seat outside and enjoy these nice warm nights!

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½  ripe white peach peeled and diced
  • ½  white peach, sliced with skin on
  • 4  basil leaves
  • 3 oz lime juice
  • 1 T of maple syrup
  • 2 oz of vodka, peach blossom Ketel One preferred
  • Peach Bubbly seltzer water, regular club soda or prosecco

DIRECTIONS:

  • Muddle* the peeled peach and 3 of the torn up basil leaves.
  • Add lime juice, maple syrup and vodka.
  • Stir up and add ice to the top of the glass. Top off with the sparkling seltzer water or club soda.
  • Give a quick stir and then add a piece or two of the unpeeled peach slices and a big basil leaf.

*Muddling is a technique used in mixology to gently mash herbs or fruit to release their juices. This helps the flavors to bind with the alcohol better than simply using them whole.
