The latest developments around the region related to the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, as of Thursday afternoon include:
- The city of Vacaville announced Thursday that two unrelated city employees tested positive for COVID-19. The first employee reported their positive test to the city late Wednesday afternoon, and the second employee reported theirs Thursday morning, according to the city. The two employees were from different departments.
- Santa Cruz County officials announced Thursday that a third resident in the county has died as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus. The man in his mid 90s was in hospice care and died last week. Public health officials believe he got the virus from a close contact, according to the county.
- The Six Flags Discovery Kingdom amusement park in Vallejo is reopening next week but rides will not be operating and the amount of visitors will be kept well below capacity, park officials announced Thursday. The park had closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic but will reopen on July 2 as an animals-only experience with various talks from animal care specialists and animal demonstrations at outdoor venues.
- Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that the state hopes to expedite the release of several thousand low-risk inmates at state prisons such as San Quentin that have seen outbreaks of the COVID-19 coronavirus in their populations.

- Napa County: 258 cases (+7), 4 deaths
- San Francisco County: 3,297 cases (+48), 48 deaths
- San Mateo County: 2,996 cases (+35), 104 deaths
- Santa Clara County: 3,888 cases (+56), 155 deaths (+1)
- Santa Cruz County: 337 cases (+7), 3 deaths (+1)
