Senior prank or something else? Flyers falsely tied to school superintendent pop up around town

“Buy my new novel!” exhort flyers seen taped to street signs around town Tuesday morning. The flyers, written to look like they originated with Superintendent Randall Booker, promote Car Thieves and Creek Beds a YA novel Booker started writing in 2017 to inspire his son and published in April.

The purpose of the flyers — a joke? an effort to discredit the superintendent during a public health crisis? — is unclear and had residents scratching their heads.

Booker says it’s absurd to think he would pull such a stunt. “The book was a personal family project and not for profit or to get publicity, or even really about me, and is not my main focus. That someone would post these flyers means they don’t understand what this is about. We’ve got so much work to do. This is just a distraction,” said Booker to the Exedra.
