Chief Bowers asks residents to stay home and stay safe

Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers

Piedmont Police Chief sent the following message on Sunday evening:

Piedmont residents,

I know that the reports of the ongoing looting and other criminal activity occurring throughout our region and nation are unnerving to say the least.  I want you to know your police department is deployed, actively monitoring the night’s events and stands ready to respond if needed. We are also in direct contact with our county law enforcement partners who are prepared to provide assistance if needed.

Emotions are running high right now. While some may want to attend the various Bay Area protests to express themselves, due to violence, we are advising residents to stay home and stay safe. We are all hurting from the affront to justice we have witnessed and our voices need to be heard but they need to heard in a safe space.

Jeremy Bowers
Chief of Police
