Piedmont girls lacrosse falls to Foothill

Audriana Templeman scored seven goals and Nikki Trueblood had five as the Falcons defeated the Highlanders, 19-14 at Witter Field on March 10.

Caroline Devine and Maria del Rosario Chan each scored five goals for Piedmont.

Coach Carlton Chan said that losing defender Bella Kjellen to season-ending surgery was compounded by losing defender Amelia Costello to an illness.

“Two of our starting defenders out at the same time led to some poor communication at low D and a lot of easy scores,” Chan said.

Campbell Lawson had two saves for the Highlanders, who fell to 2-2-1 on the season.

The Falcons jumped out early, taking a 9-2 lead midway through the first half. Templeman had four of the goals and Trueblood had three.

Del Rosario Chan scored three consecutive goals for Piedmont to cut the lead to 9-5. The teams traded goals in the final minutes of the half, and went to the break with Foothill leading, 11-8.

The Highlanders cut the lead to two twice but never quite got over the hump.

Widdy Tevis had three goals and an assist for Piedmont.
