Essential City services in place? You bet.

Last night a huge Acacia tree fell on Hampton Road just above the entrance to Hampton Field blocking the street. City Parks & Project Manager Nancy Kent told the Exedra that Public Works said the tree fell around midnight.

The Acacia had been located in a 10-foot right-of-way along Hampton Road owned by the City. The section of Hampton road between Glen Alpine and La Salle was blocked off from through traffic.

Deemed an “essential service,” the City had their crew on site to remove and open the street to traffic first thing Tuesday morning. Kent reported as of this morning that they do not know why the tree fell.
