School District seeks substitute teachers

PUSD Superintendent Randall Booker sent the following notice to the school community this week:

Piedmont Unified School District is looking to expand our pool for Substitute Teachers.  California is experiencing a severe teacher shortage, and in turn, a severe shortage for substitute educators.  All Districts in Alameda and Contra Costa County are facing shortfalls.

As part of our recruitment strategies, we are reaching out to the community to encourage local applicants. In order to serve as a Substitute Teacher for any of the schools in our District, all applicants need the following:

Substitute teacher: 

  • Original CBEST card with passing scores or verification of other approved Basic Skills Test. (http://www.ctcexams.nesinc.com/about_CBEST.asp)
  • A California teaching credential/30 Day Emergency Permit.
  • Evidence of having passed a TB test within the last year.
  • Fingerprint clearance for PUSD.

Substitute teachers are compensated at $140 per day.
