Luke Harris scored 22 points and Luke Barrett added 19 to help lead the Highlanders to an 81-63 victory at Castro Valley on February 7. The win lifted the Highlanders to 20-4 on the season, and 6-3 in West Alameda County Conference play.

“Good bounce-back win,” Piedmont coach Ben Spencer said, adding that 20 wins was one of the team’s goals.

The Highlanders got off to a good start, taking a 24-14 lead after one quarter. Harris scored nine of his points in the first quarter, while Barrett had seven. It was 46-32 at halftime, and the Trojans weren’t able to rally in the second half.

Jojo Murphy scored 15 points and had five assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Patrick Selna started in place of Paul Davies (out with an illness), and scored four points while pulling down nine rebounds. He also spent most of the game defending Devin Green, holding the senior center to six points, with none in the second half.

Caleb Davis scored 21 points to lead the Trojans.

DaRon Benson injured his back in the February 5 loss to Bishop O’Dowd and sat out the game.

Next up for Piedmont is a home game against Berkeley on February 12. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The regular season concludes on February 14 with a rematch against San Leandro, which beat the Highlanders in Piedmont on January 29.
