Coyote sightings prompt reminder from PPD

PPD Facebook post

In response to a number of reports of coyote sightings in upper Piedmont recently, the Piedmont Police Department is re-issuing this notice from August:

“As it is still peak season for wildlife, many coyotes have recently been spotted in both the upper and lower Piedmont areas. Coyotes, while typically aloof, can display aggressive tendencies if their young are nearby. They are also carnivorous predators and tend to hunt smaller mammals which can include cats. We would like to remind everyone to always be aware of their surroundings. And to protect your feline friends, we highly recommend making them indoor only, or to bring them inside from dusk to dawn. Our Animal Control Officers are available to answer any questions. 510-420-3006”
