The new model, a 2019 Pierce Enforcer P.U.C. replaces PFD's oldest engine from 1999.

After months of construction followed by rigorous testing and certification in Appleton, WI, a new engine (2841) is now in Sacramento getting some final tweaks. Due to arrive shortly, PFD will have a small, informal ceremony to celebrate its long-anticipated arrival. (Stay tuned for more details.)

Here are some of the features of the new model, a 2019 Pierce Enforcer P.U.C. (read more: https://www.piercemfg.com/innovations/puc):

  • It will carry 750 gallons of water, it can pump over 1500 gallons per minute
  • This will be one of the first engines in the county configured with a “Clean-Cab”. This reduces the firefighter’s chronic exposure of carcinogens and contaminants present in some of our firefighting gear.
  • Compartment space will increase by 60% to 272 cubic feet
  • Advanced suspension system TAK-4 independent front suspension improves stopping distance, improves load capacity, advanced braking and maneuverability. Ideal for Piedmont’s hills and tight turns. https://www.piercemfg.com/tak-4
  • The fuel economy also improves, while meeting all the current EPA exhaust standards

This fire engine will impressively meet the needs of our community while equipping our firefighters with innovations to ensure they have the safest work environment possible.

The new engine will have an expected lifespan of 20 years, replacing our oldest fire engine manufactured in 1999.
