2 small earthquakes strike near San Jose

Two small earthquakes struck near San Jose Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first struck at 4:18 p.m. and was a preliminary magnitude-2.8 quake. It was located 8.1 miles southwest of San Jose. The other struck at about the same location at 5:21 p.m. and was a preliminary magnitude-2.5 temblor.
