On Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8:06 a.m. there was a report of a suspicious individual on the Wildwood Elementary School campus.
According to Capt. Chris Monahan, Piedmont Police Department (PPD) units were dispatched to Wildwood Elementary School following a report of a suspicious person in the school’s lobby. A school janitor located the subject and reported the information to Principal Carol Cramer.
Cramer called PPD who made contact with Ausha Renee Edingtonmeadows inside the office of the school. A records check revealed Edingtonmeadows, 26, Oakland, had an outstanding bench warrant out of Alameda County for battery in the amount of $20,000. Edingtonmeadows was also previously charged for battery in 2017.
Edingtonmeadows was taken into custody and transported to Berkeley Jail without incident. Monahan added that Berkeley Jail is “a new booking facility for [PPD] since [Glenn E. Dyer] North County Jail closed” this past June.
Edingtonmeadows is not involved with the school in any way and seemed transient, said Monahan.
According to Superintendent Randy Booker, “Principal Cramer and staff had their students, who normally wait on the front patio, wait in the auditorium with their teachers and paraeducators until the police could finish in addressing the young woman’s needs. Ultimately, the Piedmont police decided to escort her off of our campus and to the Piedmont Police Department due to an outstanding warrant.”
