The Highlanders dropped a pair of West Alameda County League matches, losing at Castro Valley and then at home to Alameda.
The Castro Valley match on October 8 went four sets, with the Trojans winning 25-11, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15. Daniela Skov had six kills, one block and seven aces in the match. Jace Porter had six kills.
Piedmont played well in the middle part of the match. In winning the second set, the Highlanders got kills from five players and Skov recorded four of her aces. Piedmont also had three blocks in the set.
Skov had three of her kills in the third set as the Highlanders battled to take control of the match. Porter had two kills, but it wasn’t enough.
Julia Prager finished with two blocks and a kill in the match.
On October 10, the Highlanders hosted Alameda, but lost in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17. Skov again had a strong game, recording 11 kills, one ace and one block. Molly Harrison had 13 kills and one block. Colby Francis added three aces for Piedmont.
The Highlanders have three matches coming up: at San Leandro on October 15, hosting Bishop O’Dowd on October 16, and at Berkeley on October 17.
