The Highlanders team demonstrated their improvement over the course of the season with a 4-3 win at Bishop O’Dowd on October 17, a dramatic reversal from a month ago, when the Dragons defeated the Highlanders, 6-1.
The win came a week after a gritty win at home over Castro Valley, also by a 4-3 score.
Piedmont and Bishop O’Dowd split the singles matches. Audrey Edel won the No. 2 match over Georgia Bunkers, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. No. 3 Bridgette McEfee defeated Hayden Senegal, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
Bishop O’Dowd’s Evian Jiang won the No. 1 singles match over Emily Becker, 6-1, 7-6 (0). At No. 4, the Dragons’ Alex Davis prevailed over Mara LaForte, 6-2, 6-4.

But Edel defeated the Trojans’ Anha Mortensen at No. 2, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. No. 3 was another tough match, with Piedmont’s Bridgette McEfee prevailing over Lauren Leong, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5. Castro Valley’s Gaby Madison won the No. 4 match over Hannah Ferguson, 6-2, 6-2.
The Highlanders won the match by taking two out of three doubles. Audrey Call and Marlowe McEfee won the No. 1 match over Marissa Chan and Sammie Lee, 6-4, 7-5. Castro Valley’s Kele Fong and Alex Tam took the No. 2 match over Orta and Amanda Becker, 6-2, 6-1.
