Bay Area nonprofit The Cancer League, Inc. is busy on all fronts this time of year, preparing for its largest fundraiser and welcoming new members. The organization raises funds for accredited non-profit organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer that focus on research, early detection, education, and patient care.
Board President Lucy Ridgway said its new board is ready to get to work and that “we are [also] so honored to welcome new members Christine Chung, Diana Peters, Katherine Duckett, Erin Brayer, Kelly Winniford, Stannye Nelson, Rachelle Hebrard, Kendall Connors, and Kate Osler. [They] have already begun to make an impact in our group through their work on our upcoming annual fundraiser, The Holly Ball.”
Elegance and fun for the cause at the Holly Ball on December 6
Getting to work on their signature annual event, members gathered last week at the home of Lisa Settlemier in Piedmont to assemble invitations for the 46th annual Holly Ball celebration taking place on December 6 at the Claremont Country Club in Oakland.
This year’s theme is The Club Speakeasy. “This year’s Holly Ball will transport more than 200 guests back to the roaring 1920’s, the time of the Great Gatsby,” said event chair Jenna Caldwell. “The event will be an opportunity to join friends, meet new ones, and support a cause that has become so personal to so many of us.”
The black tie event commences with a cocktail reception before dinner where guests will be travel back in time to a bygone era. Highlights of the evening include gaming, a live auction, raise the paddle, a raffle and dancing into the night to the sounds of the Big Band era.
The Cancer League’s largest fundraiser
The annual Holly Ball is the organization’s largest fundraiser and provides significant support for the Cancer League’s mission to raise funds for accredited non-profit organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer that focus on research, early detection, education and patient care. “I’m very excited about making Holly Ball a success this year,” said Caldwell. “The work we do through The Cancer League impacts everyone and we hope the larger community will join us this year to support our cause in the fight against cancer,” she said.
Individual tickets are $350 and sponsorship at any level is welcomed. Donors at the $1,000 level or above will be invited to the Donor Party on November 14. All donations will help in the fight against cancer by supporting local cancer-related research-based programs in the area of education, early detection and patient care services.
