Piedmont Community Service Crew welcomes new middle and high school members

The Piedmont Community Service Crew (PCSC) serves over 150 teen members with a wide range of service activities and projects to please all types. Activities include:

*Cooking for the Bay Area homeless population

*Tutoring refugee children from Burma (weekly)

*Working on environmental projects

*Volunteering regularly at the Alameda County Community Food Bank

Each year, youth leaders plan the renovation of a low income elderly Oakland resident, raising thousands of dollars so that PCSC is also an annual sponsor of Rebuilding Together Oakland.  This favorite project engages over 100 volunteers who put in over 1,500 hours of effort to make a direct impact on a local person or family.

During the summers, PCSC teens have planned service trips, including recent destinations to India and New Orleans.

This fall, PCSC is taking on an exciting new project: to fund and build from scratch a tiny house that will be destined for a homeless teen in Oakland.

Although PCSC is for girls and boys aged 14-20, there is a companion club for middle schoolers. They do most of the same events as the older PCSC members, and get a preview of high school life while working under the guidance of these excellent role models from PCSC.

PCSC was founded over 15 years ago, under the umbrella of the Piedmont Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The adult crew advisor encourages the teen members to be stakeholders of their crew and mentors the youth leadership team as they make critical and strategic decisions to constantly improve their organization.

The crew plans two to four events each week so that there are lots of options for our busy members. There is no minimum involvement requirement; we trust PCSC members to select and participate in activities that suit them best.
