Richmond preps for annual home front fest honoring Rosie the Riveter on Aug 10

Richmond Mayor Tom Butt is inviting local history and cosplay enthusiasts to dress up in Rosie the Riveter costumes for this year’s Rosie Rally Home Front Festival, coming up on Aug. 10.

The event will feature food, costume contests and dancing as attendants honor the original World War II “Rosies,” a diverse group of women who stepped up to fill jobs left vacant by the male workforce when they deployed overseas. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Craneway Pavilion at 1414 Harbour Way S. in Richmond.

Anyone planning to attend has been asked to RSVP online at https://www.facebook.com/pg/RosietheRiveterTrust/events/. Butt is also asking area residents to invite their friends and family.
