Highland and Craig on July 17

Central Piedmont looks and feels like a construction zone right now: In addition to ongoing work at Piedmont High School, the demolition and replacement of concrete ramps, sidewalks, and curbs at various sites around town has begun. Contractors Gallagher & Burk are working at the intersection of Craig and Highland this week.

Dan Benavidez from the paving and grading contracting company provided these updates on Friday, July 19:

  • Highland and Craig will likely be finished by the end of next week or the early part of the following week. Paving will be finished by August 5 or 6, aiming for completion before school begins again.
  • The ramp at Havens: demolition will begin immediately after Highland and Craig sidewalks are finished. They’re also aiming for completion by August 5 or 6, and certainly before school begins.
  • Magnolia Avenue between Nova and Hillside: tree removal is happening right now and demolition will be on August 5.
