Piedmont High School’s boys tennis team recorded wins over Marin Academy and San Leandro to move to 5-3 on the year, and 3-2 in West Alameda County League play.
On March 20, the Highlanders squeaked past Marin Academy in a nonleague match, 4-3. Will Wolfe and Sajan Srivastava lost in the day’s best match to Gabe Davidson and Brandt Maxwell, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7, at No. 1 doubles. Nick Lynn and Walker Mahany won the No. 2 doubles match over Nick Lee and Max Sarosi, 6-4, 6-0. Alan Rossi and Akash Kothari teamed up to take the No. 3 doubles over Brewer Stone and Oscar Nesbitt-Schmidt, 6-2, 6-3.
Matt Chan fell to Charlie Stenbery at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Luke Hawkins beat Peter Hobart at No. 3, 7-5, 6-2. Charlie Lambert beat Spencer Barnett at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
The day before, the Highlanders beat San Leandro, 7-0. Kothari played No. 4 singles and beat Kaho Moon in a good match, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Nick Lalli won at No. 1 singles, beating Ben Duong, 6-1, 6-3. Lambert won at No. 3, downing Josh Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles, Lynn teamed with Alan Rossi to beat Sonny Lew and Timothy Tran in the No. 1 match, 6-2, 6-2. Jake Cota and Jaden Ferraro beat Philip Mariam and Mohit Singh in the No. 3 match, 6-3, 7-5.
On March 15, the Highlanders fell to Berkeley, 4-3. The Yellowjackets swept the top three singles matches, but Lambert won at No. 4, beating Ari Liebenson, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
The team’s next scheduled match is March 22 at Alameda at 3:30 p.m.
