PHS men’s golf opens season with two wins

Under new Head Coach Howard Oliver, the PHS Men’s Golf Team got the season off to a winning start, clinching its first two matches in wet and cold conditions.

Monday, Feb 11, host Piedmont defeated Alameda on the very difficult back 9 of Claremont Country Club, 233-273. Henry Lambert paved the way with an overall low score of 40.

The very next day the squad traveled to Berkeley High’s home course, Tilden Park, where they defeated the hosts 206-256, and didn’t let the mid-40 degree temperatures slow them down. Nate Wilson was the low score, posting a 2-over 37, while the top 5 PHS scorers all shot 46 or better.

The team is back in action right after break on Monday Feb 25, hosting Bishop O’Dowd, Mt. Eden and Arroyo at Claremont Country Club.
