City hosts ‘Sustainable Practices for Residential Landscapes’

February 27, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Residents are invited to learn about best practices for sustainable residential landscaping. Local organizations and vendors will set up tables about different practices, and attendees will have an opportunity to walk around and learn more from each display. Several tables will have hands-on activities for kids and adults.

6:30 PM | Climate Fellow Justin Szasz
Szasz will explain how the featured practices, together, can create vibrant and resilient natural landscapes that will prepare Piedmont for climate change’s various effects.

This event is a great way to get involved right away in the fight against climate change and for a vibrant environment and resilient community. For more information, please view this video. We hope to see you there!

Climate change increases the risk in Piedmont of drought, wildfires, and severe rainfall which may cause flooding. Implementing the right landscaping practices in your home and garden can lessen the effects of these natural disaster events. These practices will also help the environment in other ways, conserving water, increasing biodiversity, and reducing atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations.
