Since 1981, Piedmont residents have voted to tax themselves to ensure that the high level of service provided by their city government can continue. Piedmonters know the value that their city government provides and have been willing to fund needed services for over 40 years through the Special Municipal Services Tax, commonly known as the Parcel Tax.
Over time, the necessary services provided by our city government have expanded. In 1981, who would have imagined many of the programs that the city currently provides and expenses it now incurs. Over the years, our City Council has proven itself to be a wise financial steward of the taxpayer dollar. The Council scrutinizes, amends, and approves a budget annually. This budget process is conducted entirely in public and members of the Piedmont community actively participate by sharing their opinions and priorities with the Council and staff.
Measure F on the March 2024 ballot asks Piedmonters to be willing to continue to fund needed services, allow city government to be able to adapt to the changing needs of the Piedmont community, and to be able to continue the bedrock mission of providing the high level of service we demand from our city government.
As a fellow Piedmont resident, I urge you to vote yes on Measure F.
