The PUSD parent support group formerly known as PRAISE (Piedmonters for Resources, Advocacy and Information in Special Education) has changed its name to Piedmonters for Inclusive Education (PIE) and has a new logo and website HERE.
From their newsletter:
Why change our name? We believe that Piedmonters for Inclusive Education (PIE) best reflects who we are at this time in our organizational history. We are parents who support inclusion in PUSD for all students with disabilities and learning differences. We believe that all learners have the right to full participation and inclusion in our classrooms and in our community, and that for us to do so as a community we must work to meet the needs of students with all neurotypes, abilities, and learning styles. We strive to ensure that the Piedmont Unified School District provides all students with an excellent education in a nurturing environment.
We will continue to advocate for resources to help meet students’ access needs, provide educational resources in the form of our well-loved Neurodiversity Speaker Series and provide grants to PUSD teachers and Piedmont Recreation Department programs that help make Piedmont a welcoming community for all.
As a past president of PRAISE, I approve this name change, and wish them all the best.
