The school community turned out in red at a rally at the Piedmont Community Hall on Feb. 6 to support teachers, staff, and California public schools. Thursday’s event marked the end of a week’s worth of activities designed to raise awareness of the need for more state funding of education in California.
The rally committee: Gabriel Kessler, Cory Smegal, Megan Pillsbury, Randall Booker, Jamie Van Kleeck and Jace Porter. A young girl with a sign imploring more funding for education. Havens Elementary teacher, Kelly Wallis, talks to fellow teachers, parents, students and school board members. Piedmont Troubadours Mirabel Canty-Hilchey, Ava Bogart, Jonah Broscow and Nate Seevak sand the National Anthem. Students and Parents filled out postcards to mail to politicians urging funding for public education. Royela Joyce assists her kindergarten daughter, Jojo, fill out a postcard to mail to state politicians. Signs were posted all around the Community Center and outside showing support for our teachers and our schools. The program for the Fund Public Education Now!
