Piedmont High School’s swimming team swept Encinal and Alameda on April 6, with both the boys and girls teams prevailing in a West Alameda County Conference matchup at Encinal.
The Highlander boys defeated Alameda, 90-78. They beat Encinal, 86-75. The girls downed the Hornets, 93-71, and the Jets, 100-64.
The boys relay team of Simon Lins, Tom Rolefson, Dima Secor, and Nik Costello won the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. The former in one minute, 32.78 seconds and the latter in 3:32.21. Lins also won the 100 freestyle in 49.56 and the 100 backstroke in 55.30.

Evan Byun won the 500 freestyle in 5:29.23 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.69.
Rolefson won the 50 freestyle in 23.19 and finished third in the 100 freestyle in 52.20. Secor was second in both the 200 individual medley (2:11.68) and 100 butterfly (58.36).
Costello was second in the 200 freestyle (1:59.90) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.65).
The girls team of Taylor Rolefson, Josie Oesterer, Sonja ten Grotenhuis, and Sydney Olson won the 200 freestyle (1:46.36) and 400 freestyle (3:55.24) relays. Taylor Rolefson swept the 200 freestyle (2:03.24) and 100 freestyle (56.67).

Oesterer took the 200 individual medley in 2:20.77 and the 100 backstroke in 1:00.42. Ten Grotenhuis was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:10.82 and the same in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.90.
Tyler Dacanay was second in both the 200 individual medley (2:37.24) and 500 freestyle (6:23.41). Abigail Jacoby was second in both the 50 freestyle (26.48) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.06). Olsen was second in the 100 freestyle in 59.34 and third in the 50 freestyle in 27.23.
On March 30, Piedmont’s Nina Schwab took first place in diving at a meet at Berkeley. Schwab scored 243.65 to win against Alameda, Berkeley, and Encinal.
Piedmont will next face Castro Valley on April 14 in a rescheduled meet.
