Diane Ferlatte, a Grammy-nominated storyteller, has been captivating young audiences for many years. Joined by musician Erik Pearson on banjo & guitar, Ferlatte enthralled Wildwood students and staff with her tales harkening back to her African, Southern and African American roots for Black History Month.
Ferlatte believes in the importance that storytelling has with regard to historical, cultural, and ethical values. As she beats her stick to the rhythms of her voice, she delights the audience with her vocal antics, producing laughter but also intense emotion in her renditions.
Ferlatte’s two assemblies for the entire Wildwood community were arranged though a grant from the Piedmont Anti-Racism and Diversity Committee.
