One person was taken into custody on Jan. 28 due to warrants for theft and drugs. The person was pulled over for driving a vehicle with an expired registration and taken into custody on Grand Avenue at 5:18 p.m, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. He was then taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
On Jan. 31, a white Hyundai Accent set off the city’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system at 11:53 a.m. on Grand and Wildwood avenues. The vehicle fled but became disabled at Highland and Moraga avenues, according to Monahan. The suspect then fled. A search of the area came up empty. The registered owner of the car was contacted.
A vehicle was stolen on Jan. 31 from Fairview Avenue at 3:40 a.m. A person called in reporting someone was attempting to steal their vehicle. The suspect was associated with a black SUV, according to the police log.
Another vehicle was stolen on Jan. 29. A gray 2016 Kia Sorento was taken from Ronada Avenue.
On Jan. 29, a residence on Rose Avenue was burgled, with a couple of wallets and a piece of clothing taken. The police log reported that the suspect or suspects entered through an unlocked back door. The vehicle was taken between 12 a.m. and 9 a.m., per the police log. A silver 2021 Kia Sportage is suspected of being connected to the crime.
A Ford F-250 truck was stolen on Jan. 28 on Sea View Avenue. The caller reported the crime at 11:56 a.m. and said it happened in the past 15 minutes. The vehicle has a black iron lumber rack and damage to the tailgate and rear bumper.
