Friends of Sausal Creek is the local nonprofit that works to promote awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of Oakland’s Sausal Creek watershed, which runs from the Oakland Hills and through the Dimond and Fruitvale districts before it drains to the San Francisco Bay.
FOSC posted the following message on their website with details on how to help them recover from the incident:
Our beloved native plant nursery in Joaquin Miller Park was recently ransacked and vandalized. Tables and benches were overturned, every plant thrown to the ground, pots smashed—a senseless act that has destroyed thousands of hours of work by our dedicated staff and volunteers.
We got right back out there with the help of many hands to salvage what we can and take inventory of the damage. We could use your help as we rebuild and work extra hard to get our planting goals back on track to continue our important work of protecting, restoring, and beautifying the Sausal Creek Watershed.
