It was a full house for the 15th Annual Havens Poker Night hosted by the Havens Dad Club on Friday, Jan. 20 at Veterans Hall. Planning Committee member T.J. Won said over 150 poker players participated and the group raised over $48,000, breaking the previous fundraising record. Jimmy (James) Lee — a first-timer and parent of Kindergartners — was the night’s winner.
The event was supported by Platinum sponsors Lisa Chan-Carnazzo of the Grubb Company and Chris Kwei from Oakland Kia; Silver sponsor Robert Dorsey, from Robert Dorsey Catering and Events; and value-in-kind donations from Ludo Thomasson, Joel DiGiorgio, and Tom Stevens.
The planning and volunteer committee started meeting last October to pull together Havens’ largest fundraising event of the year. Volunteers: Roger Tsai, Francis Hoang, Dave McMurtry, T.J. Won, Jeff Nguyen, Peter Day, Brandon Bercovich, Kyle Killion, Reza Bazargani, Judy Lin, Billy Rusteen, Babak Sanii, Robert Dorsey, Spencer Hill, Dustin Frazier, Jesse Hull, Susan Waitkus, Jonathan Essner, Shirley Hooi, Fontane Lo, and Matt Waitkus
