On Friday, October 14, a group of Millennium High School students and staff chaperones spent the day on the San Francisco Bay with the Blue Water Sailing Foundation. This all-volunteer nonprofit is dedicated to bringing the joys and challenges of sailing to San Francisco Bay Area under-served youths.
MHS students had the chance to steer the boat, put up the sails, and learn other sailing fundamentals. This event was financially supported by the MHS Parents Club. MHS is also grateful to Piedmont resident Eric Downing who volunteers with the group and helped to bring the opportunity to MHS.
MHS senior Alex Guevarra enjoyed the chance to be out on the Bay, saying “it was so peaceful out on the water”.
“The crew was nice. They taught me how to steer,” said Junior Andre Bowers. “It was hard at first but then I got used to it.”

Blue Water is a great organization and thanks to Eric Downing and Shannon Fierro for getting MHS students out on our Bay for the second year in a row!
