A group of Havens Elementary School fourth graders enjoy their sweet treat on the first day of the Walk for Wellness event.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, students and community members of all ages gathered in Piedmont Park for the first day of the Walk for Wellness, the largest yearly fundraiser forPUSD’s Wellness Center. The event is an accessible and inclusive series of walks around Piedmont throughout the week of Aug. 21 – 27 that’s open to the entire Piedmont community. The first 200 registered student walkers received free boba tea from two food trucks parked at the Exedra Plaza. Multiple community and grade-level walks started and ended at the park on Sunday but participants can get their steps in any time this week.
Last year’s event raised more than $50,000 for the Center and this year’s organizers say they’ve already hit the $60,000 mark with fundraising ongoing.
