Come to Piedmont Community Service Crew’s (PCSC) Fall Kickoff to meet youth members and leaders and crew parents at this fun, social, and informative event. For 18 years, PCSC has provided local teens with the skills and opportunities to make lasting impacts in their community. As a youth-led, co-ed Venturing Crew organized under Piedmont Council BSA, we provide many leadership and volunteer opportunities that cater to most interests, in a low-stress, fun and nurturing environment.
Middle school kids and their parents may register with our companion Piedmont Service Club (PSC) where they partake in everything offered by PCSC that is age appropriate.
PCSC partners with organizations across the Bay Area to create dynamic and diverse volunteering events multiple times each week. These range from cooking meals for people in underserved communities, building and renovating homes, working with underserved children, and nature immersive clean-up projects. We remain active over summers, striving to have a summer service trip that is planned by our youth. Together, our members gain various skills and experiences that bring them closer into becoming well-rounded individuals in our community.
An example, one of PCSC’s most popular annual events is held in association with Rebuilding Together Oakland (RTO). Each year, around 100 crew volunteers collectively put in over 1,000 hours into renovating an elderly person’s home in Oakland. Through this project alone, participants learn a range of skills, from fundraising, project planning and teamwork; structural repairs, improvements and then cleaning and repainting the entire house. Above all, crew members learn the value of gratitude and giving back as they work with the homeowner.
Members of PCSC are encouraged to take on leadership roles: event planning, organizational management, communications and publicity, fundraising, parent engagement, program development, member recruiting and development, and accounting. Motivated members are encouraged to take leadership training all while being able to socialize and meet new people.
To learn more, please join us at PCSC’s fall kickoff this Sunday Aug. 28 from 4-6 p.m. where you can meet crew members, youth leaders, and parents. This will be a fun, social event with refreshments along with presentations about the crew and how members and their parents can benefit.
RSVP using this form. After receiving your registration we will reply with the kickoff address. We hope you can join us!
